Class Policies

In order to optimize your learning experiences at Little Owls Knit Shop, regular classes are limited to 6 students.  Please be aware that in order to reserve space in a class you must pay the full registration fee in advance.  Payment may be made in the shop or over the phone with a credit card.

Students may cancel a registration for a full refund up to one week in advance of the scheduled class date, or for store credit if cancelled up to 48 hours in advance of the scheduled class time.  There will be no refunds for cancellations within 48 hours of a scheduled class and no make-up classes will be offered for missed attendance.  Please read the class description carefully to be sure that you arrive prepared with all the required supplies and any necessary homework so that we can optimize your class learning time.

Registered students will be offered a 10% discount for all supplies purchased for their class.  Please support your local yarn shop and purchase your class supplies at the Little Owls Knit Shop.

Private classes are available upon request and will be billed $30/hr in 15 minute increments with a 15 minute minimum.  Private classes scheduled in advance will require a $15 deposit, which can only be refunded if the appointment is cancelled more than 24 hours prior to class.

INSTRUCTOR: Joan

In this Learn to Knit Socks class, you'll learn the sock basics while making a mini-sock sampler in preparation for casting on a full-sized version.  Using two circulars or one circular with the Magic Loop method, you'll learn how to Cast-On from the toe, how to turn the heel, and stretchy bind-offs that help make a successful finished sock.  

MATERIALS: (10% off class supplies purchased at Little Owls)

  • For MINI-SOCK SAMPLER - approximately 25 yds worsted or DK weight solid yarn in a light color, needles appropriate for yarn
  • For full-sized socks - 400 - 450 yds fingering weight sock yarn split into two balls, and one 32" circular needle to get a tight gauge (US1.5-2)
  • Stitch markers, tapestry needle
  • Pattern is provided

SKILLS: Intermediate - must be confident with knitting in the round, increasing and decreasing

HOMEWORK: work gauge swatch for 32 stitches in 4" using fingering weight yarn
