Switch stitch has the texture of reversed stockinette stitch on both sides and is more simple to knit than it looks. Your knitting will come out a bit thicker than using a single yarn but will feel lighter and will be more flexible than double knitting.

Remember you will need to get more if you want to add a turned up cuff. solid colors with a good contrast are recommended, although the slight variation in hand dyed yarn is fine or a gradient or tweed effect yarn.
- scrap yarn for learning the technique, 2 colors of the same type of sport or DK smooth yarn is best
16” circular needle and double point needles for the decrease at the top in the largest recommended size for the yarn and a circular needle one or two sizes smaller for the lower edge.
SKILL LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE - Should be comfortable with basic knitting stitches and reading a pattern. Switch stitch only uses basic knitting techniques. You do not have to hold onto both yarns at the same time although both are used on each row. It can also be done with both yarns in the same hand or with one yarn in each hand, so being able to to knit and purl with either hand can be useful but is not essential. We will cover all methods in the class.
REGISTRATION: Registration in advance is required. Please call (717) 412-0900 to register over the phone with a credit card, or stop by during shop hours to register in person and select your yarn.
